A translucent smoke cylinder of a forming
waterspout near Key West (Summer of 2005) just
seconds before the picture was taken this then
weak tornado ran directly over my car. This is one
of the early stages in waterspout development.
Later you were able to look up and see the funnel
extend all the way to the parent cloud directly
overhead. Notice the boat in a close proximity the
to waterspout. Image from video.

Some major changes coming during 2011 summer time
thunderstorm season here in the Florida Keys.

First of all, my lightning photography equipment has gotten
to a stage where it is just too old to be able to deliver great
results. I will be purchasing a brand new camera and will be
completely rejuvenated and ready to bring some amazing
lightning photography here during the upcoming season.

Another very busy waterspout season is just around the
corner and we will be ready to go out there and capture
some of the most intense waterspout video and high
resolution photographs to date.

Also possibly planning a trip to Midwest this late Spring to
chase and film supercell thunderstorms. This will greatly
depend on a daily work schedule, but will probably  fly
out for a few days each time, depending on the setup.
